Prehistory to Civilization

Today we talked about Prehistory to Civilization so here are some lovely notes, enjoy:

Prehistoric Era - before people new how to write anything down
Paleolithic age (old stone age) - Earliest prehistoric age
Neolithic age (new stone age) - marked by advance tool making and beginnings of agricultural
Neolithic Revolution - shift from itinerant hunting to more permanent settlements centered on agricultural.
Populations rose due to increased ability to care for young children
Hierarchies = village life; status was lowered as women was confined more to domestic duties
Invention of wheel and plow = produced enough food for storage.
Villagers = polytheists > worshiped multiple nature, human and animal gods.
Earliest cities: Mesopotamia
Sumer:
occupied the land between Tigris and Euphrates
Cities and towns = 4,000 people
Population increased = techniques
Kings emerged as did family dynasties and the concept of "city-state"
